Presentation : High entropy materials as multifunctional catalysts for energy-related applications
Speaker: Associate Professor Ahmadi Moghaddam Ostovari, MIEM, HSE, Moscow
Time: Thursday, February 27, 2025, 5 p.m.
Location: auditorium 501, Higher School of Economics MIEM (34 Tallinskaya St.)
Language: English

Annotation:

High entropy materials (HEMs) consisting of at least five elements have gained widespread attention in the field of electrocatalysis due to their tunable activities and high stability. These intrinsic properties can be further highlighted when the size of HEMs comes to the nanoscale. In nanostructured HEMs, the fascinating properties including large composition space, multi-element synergy, and high configuration entropy are expected to endow nano-HEMs with excellent catalytic activity and stability, thus providing greater potential for the design of advanced electrocatalysts.   In this seminar, the definition and development of high-entropy materials are briefly reviewed. Subsequently, the classification of high-entropy materials is presented, followed by a discussion of their applications in energy storage and catalysis from the perspective of synthesis methods.
