PhD students of the Center for Quantum Metamaterials became the winners of the jubilee conference
The 30th anniversary scientific conference named after E.V. Armensky was held at the Higher School of Economics, bringing together young researchers, PhD students and students working in advanced areas of modern science and technology. This year, the event once again became a platform for discussing current scientific results and exchanging ideas in the fields of physics, materials science and computational methods. The conference was particularly successful for the PhD students of the Center for Quantum Metamaterials who have demonstrated a high level of training and the significance of their research.

The Director of the Center for Quantum Metamaterials took part in Agora television program on CULTURE TV channel
Professor Vagov, the Director of the Center for Quantum Metamaterials at the HSE University's MIEM, , appeared as an expert in the Agora TV program on CULTURE TV channel on Saturday, April 18. The episode was dedicated to the topic "Quantums: How to Live in an Unstable World?". The participants discussed the fundamental issues of quantum physics and their philosophical interpretations.
The Center for Quantum Metamaterials has received a grant from the Russian Science Foundation for research in the field of terahertz electronics
The application of the Center for Quantum Metamaterials has become the winner of the 2026 Russian Science Foundation competition for conducting fundamental and exploratory scientific research. The project "Study of Subgap Absorption Mechanisms in Disorderly Superconducting Films for the Development of Terahertz Electronics Devices" will be implemented under the supervision of the Center's Director, Dr. Alexey Vagov.

From Atoms to Regulatory Systems: Highlights from Project Defences of Scientific Initiative Competition
HSE University has hosted the final defences of student projects submitted to the Scientific Initiative Competition organised by the Centre for Student Academic Development. Over the course of the year, participants worked on research projects spanning all stages of the research process, from defining a scientific problem to analysing results, and public defence marked the final stage of the competition.

The Director of the Centre for Quantum Metamaterials, Dr.Alexey Vagov has acted as a leading expert during the Future Technologies Forum, which was held by Roscongress Foundation on February 20-21, 2025
The Future Technologies Forum is a discussion platform dedicated to the development of high-tech technologies in Russia. The Forum was launched in 2023 and has become a flagship event where leading experts, scientists, business representatives and government authorities talk about advanced scientific developments and product solutions based on them. The Roscongress Foundation is the operator of the Forum, and the largest Russian corporations are co–organizers. The plenary session of the Forum was attended by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

Congratulations to the new PhDs!
On October 2, 2024, Vyacheslav Neverov, the Centers' research intern defended his PhD thesis.

The scientists of the Center made presentations on the results of their research on superconductivity in complex multicomponent systems during the International Scientific Conference SUPERSTRIPES
The Superstripes 2024 Conference (Ischia, Italy, June 24-29, 2024) continued the successful tradition of international scientific meetings started by the first Stripes Conference, held in Rome in 1996. The event is dedicated to the growing interest of the international scientific community in the emergence of new phenomena related to complexity in quantum matter. The goal of Superstripes 2024 is to promote the development of science and scientific culture at the highest level and unite world scientific leaders in the field of new achievements in topical topics of the science of quantum complex matter.

The Centre's scientists are among the winners of the Competition for the best Russian-language scientific and popular scientific works by HSE staff
Publication by scientists of the Centre for Quantum Metamaterials "Suppression of superconducting fluctuations in multi-zone superconductors as a mechanism for increasing critical temperature" (Mini-review) // Letters to the Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics. 2024. Vol.119. No.3. p. 234 – 252// She was recognized as the best in the nomination "Science" in the field of PHYSICS AND ENGINEERING SCIENCES.
SCIENTISTS FROM THE HIGHER SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS AND BRAZIL ARE CREATING A NEW THEORY OF HIGH-TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTIVITY
The Russian and Brazilian scientists have started the joint development of a new theory of high-temperature superconductivity, which will explain the nature of recently discovered superconductors with multiple condensates, as well as the so-called topological superconductors. Mauro Doria, Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and Alexey Vagov, Director of the Center for Quantum Metamaterials at the Higher School of Economics, told HSE Daily about how cooperation will develop.
Centre for Quantum Metamaterials - 2023 Results
11 scientific articles have been published in Q1 journals, including Nature Physics and Physical Review Letters. The research results were also presented in 17 reports at leading international scientific (scientific and practical) conferences in the Russian Federation and abroad.
